Course Aims and Objectives
This one day training course will be delivered by Together for Children Sunderland Specialist Support Team in partnership with Sunderland Royal Hospital Pharmacy Department.
It will be delivered in accordance with the DfE Statutory Guidance: Supporting pupils at school with medical conditions ( September 2014 & updated December 2015), the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) 2017.
The course aims to provide your school/setting with what you need to know to be able to implement the above guidance effectively and safely in your setting, including the management of medication through the expert advice of a qualified pharmacist.
*Whilst it is anticipated that schools/settings may wish to send staff who will be involved in the direct management and administration of medication, it is also recommended that a member of the school's senior management team e.g. SENCo also attends the training, in order to ensure that schools/settings are fully aware of their roles and responsibilities in this important area.
